I can't fix my SD Card on Android and on Windows 7

My 8GB SD Card can't mount when I insert it on my Lenovo A536, when it boots it just says "Damaged SD Card - SD card is damaged. Try reformatting" but when I click "format sd card" it does nothing and when I plugged in on my Windows 7 Laptop it doesn't read. USB Storage does nothing. Help!

In the PH I found a lot of SD cards are defective they break after a few days of use, MyPhone and Cherry Mobile cell phones are good at destroying SD cards also... Best to check and see if your cell phone will recognise a different SD card and also make sure your laptop can just to remove the possibility that the problem is with the device rather than the card...

Sometimes if you blow in the slot of your laptop where the SD card inserts into it will read, also try a different adapter the TDK one's seem to be about the best another trick is to quickly insert and eject it a few times... If your lucky it will read and you might be able to copy your data over but mostly you will not be able to but at least if the laptop can see it then in most cases it will format and work again... If none of the above works then it's defective SD card...

Seven times out of ten though by trying all of that I can normally get them to function again and I tell the owner not to allow people to borrow the SD card again and plug it into their virus ridden dodgy cell phones...

Well if it is 2 years old that could well be the problem some last a lot longer than others and the brand does not have much to do with that equation... the one's I get given to look at (at least 3 a month) with the same problem are mostly anywhere between 2 days and 2 months old, the main problem with the laptop not being able to read an SD card is mostly due to dust in the slot and the problem with a phone not being able to read one (or say its damaged) is due to the card having being inserted into some inferior quality phone or a one that has lots of viruses or mallwear on it... if you have tried everything I have suggested then I would say its dead... I have even tried freezing the "dead" one's without any success it sometimes works for HDD's but not SD cards from what I have seen...

    Hi devilron24,

Tell us the brand and we shall check if we can do something.

Also post a screenshot of how it looks in Windows Disk Management, if it does appear in it. Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image

Generally in Pinoy English that means it is not detected....
