The RT2561 and RT2560 chipset use a different set of driver than the RT2500 chipset, even though they both used to be packaged in the same install setup. The RT2500 based cards use the rt2500.sys drivers and the RT256x based cards use the netr6164.sys driver. I'm not sure about the 64 in the file name, it might be because I use the x64 version of Windows7 and the install only copied the 64bits files and not both, 32bits and 64bits, files.

if you have any problem and want to try even older drivers for your RT256x chipset based card, I still have a few older version of their drivers install package on my had drive. I had few problems with, what I thought was, their drivers under vista x64 before I realize that they didn't update the driver file for the RT2500 chipset since 2006 and all the problems were because of the ralink UI.

I need a driver for Ralink RT2500 that will work with Windows 7 64bit. Anyone have any advice?

I installed the latest RT2500 drivers from the Ralink site and they worked with my Belkin F5D7000au. I had to install the drivers, and then manually select the drivers for the network adapter in the device manager (as always). I selected "Ralink RT2500 Wireless LAN Card" from the list of drivers, and it worked fine. Hope this helps.

FYI - I'm using Windows 7 x64

I posted a solution on these forums yesterday for the Belkin card, but now I can't find it.

You need to use the list of built in drivers.

Oddly, Win 7 has the driver for the RT2500 (Its the chipset that the bekin uses) but it doesn't recognise it.

Get to Device Manager, Right click, -> Update driver -> Browse -> Let Me Pick -> Network Adaptors -> RaLink Technology INC. (last one) -> then look for RT2500.
And your done!

F5D7000 - Ralink RT2561 Driver Update

i realize this is an old thread now but this info maybe usefull to googlers

i'm using a Belkin 54g Wireless PCI Card, Model: F5D7000 ver.6000uk, Ralink RT2561 Chipset
i found some newer drivers on the Microsoft Update Catalog website , v.3.0.9.1 - dated 02/june/2010
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=belkin%20wireless%20g%20pci

on the Microsoft Update Catalog website click on the titles to get more details, like one is x86 driver and other one is x64 driver v3.0.9.1

i had some problems with this wireless card drivers on windows 7 last year it was causing random freeze ups and blue screens,
Windows Update provided me with with old drivers from 2007 version 2.1.0.0, which caused the freeze problems
now i found some more up to date drivers from the Windows Update Catalog version 3.0.9.1 from 2010
seem to be ok so far, but its only been a couple of days, but so far so good

if anyone downlads them from there, note they are .Cab files, and the file names are very long and WinRar came up with an error, untill i shortened the .cab file-name, also copying them to another folder was a problem till i shortened the file-name
i had to extract them first using WinRar to a folder, then went into device manager and updated the drivers, telling windows what folder they were located in, job done.

its a nice site that Update Catalog, but you have to use internet explorer and run a Active X Control
here's a direct link to the Ralink Wireless 54g PCI Card Drivers ver.3.0.9.1 - june-2010 - RT2561 / RT61 - x86/x64
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/10/22/2155170/Ralink%20Technology%20Corp.%20-%20Network%20-%20Wireless%20G%20PCI%20Adapter%20Drivers.rar

-----------
If anyone has a Belkin F5D700 wireless Card
be careful when looking for drivers

There exists at least 8 versions of the F5D7000. Each one is using a differnet chipset and requiring its own driver. (note this might not be 100 % correct.)
  • V1 Broadcom BCM4306
  • V2 Boadcom BCM4306 (BCM94306 ??)
  • V3 Ralink rt2500
  • V4 Broadcom (???)
  • V5 Atheros AR5212 (labeled as Atheros AR2413a-001)
  • V6 Ralink rt61 (RT2561)
  • V7 RTL8515L
  • V8 ???
You can check your version by looking for a sticker at the front or back of your device (see Belkin website for more information) or maybe by searching the web for the hardware ID, which you can find

  • in the <device manager>
  • right click your device (in the Network Adapters catagory (OR ) the Network Card that had the yellow exclamatory sign next to it)
  • choose the <details> tab
  • choose <hardware-IDs> form the drop down box.
  • Your device's Hardware ID is: "VEN_[ID]&DEV_[ID]"
Google those Hardware ID Numbers, and you may find what your looking for.

Windows 7 certainly does not include RT2500 drivers!! Belkin's own drivers are buggy as hell for 54G!!

I've found a solution for Belkin WLAN 54G PCI v3000 (RT2500 chipset):

http://www.cdtool.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Belkin_F5D7000_v3000_WLAN_G_Driver.zip

Those are the original Ralink drivers with modified .inf file to include Belkin hardware id so it will install. Tested working on XP x86 and Windows 7 x64.

hi guys thks for the precious info. my card a belkinpci wifi g F5D7001 version 3001 is now working due to your help
i tried several diferent drivers but then one of you guys said to get the vista 64 driver
so from the several i downloaded there was one from broadcom that said 64 and it work , i instaled the
driver from the update controler tab, linking to the file.
so for windows 7 64 bits use xp 64 bits version .

bye the way the pci card was instaled from start in the pc and after the driver controler update it worked with out a restart.

this is the link to the page of the 64 bits xp driver that works in windows 7 64bits:

Conceptronic C54Ri

Conceptronic C54Ri Free Driver Download for Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98SE - C54Ri_C54RC_DRV_WHQL_V3.01.00.exe

after getting the file extract and it gives 5 folders the WINX64 folder does the trick!
