Generic non pnp monitor 640 by 480

So i have this sony vaio vpceb26fg Laptop

it had a radion inbuilt video card innit which became faulty around 8 months back
i went to the service centre guys and he told since its working fine on the other default driver
i shd keep using it cuz , my problem can only get repaired if i change the motherboard which wud cost a lot like 1/4th the cost of my laptop

so i used it that way all the while . the heating problem and everything was too much
then one day i was cleaning my laptop s creen with a solution and when i switched it on i saw 2 vertical lines on right end . i knew that my screens got gone too but since it was very mild i kept on using it
and today suddenly everything gt changed

i am assuming the standard video card which it was running on before is also gone ??

is there a way to check

and yes it looks exactly like the windows xp screen used to look when u install windows without its drivers

am on windows 7 , i tried installing driver but it shows blue screen on startup so i recovered windows and tried next best possible configuration .

I just want to check is my onboard videocard gone the standard one
or it has something with screen now
    or is it something else

can i like get anything done to it now am typing this from the same laptop
my desktop i snot working from many days

You can try booting with Linux Mint MATE DVD/USB and see if graphics are alright.
