    Base System Device Drivers

    Hi
    Sony VAIO VGN-FW31E Laptop

Just did clean install from Vista to Windows 7 Professional.

Amongst several problems that I am working through the latest one is this.

Error in Device Manager: Base System Device

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_9035104D&REV_12
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_9035104D
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&CC_088000
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&CC_0880

Have tried Sony Vaio website support section but can't see anything related to this. ANyone got any ideas?

    Thanks...

    same problem here

    Hi,

I have a sony VGN-FW36GJ laptop pre-installed with vista home premium 64 bit which is now upgraded to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.

Before doing clean install I checked sony.com for updated support and drivers download. Apparently, after complete installation everything seems alright except 'Base system Device' error.

Am unable to fix it though it's not causing any malfunction but error mark is shown in device manager.

Please help if you have any idea :)

    cheers

    Hi

I had the same problem after a clean install of win 7 to a acer 2930 laptop i found it was the card reader (Sd, xd etc) once i had downloaded the updated driver from acer website & installed, base system device disappeared from device manager. Hope this helps.

    @steve208 ----> thank you mate!

I did a bit of googling and found Ricoh® MS Memory Card Reader/Writer Driver from Ricoh® MS Memory Card Reader/Writer Driver from Sony eSupport - VGN-FW378J/B - Software Updates & Drivers which was causing 'base system device' error device manager. After setup and restarting device error was fixed. Now my memory card is functional.

    Cheers!

    32bit version

    Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW51JF and installed Windows 7 32 bit and I also get the 'Base system' device not recognized.

Has anyone also found the 32 bit version for this cardreader? The Sony Vaio website says the Memory Card Reader Writer Driver is a 32/64 driver but it only contains the 64bit version:
    Vaio : Sony Europa

@rranzani. Can't find your model # on either the US or UK site, so try going to the device manager>right click on base system device>properties>details tab>drop down menu>select hardware id. Copy and Paste the hardware string and we should be able to find a 64 bit driver for your system. Thanks. Fabe
Also it's a good idea to start your own thread especially when the thread your posting on has been green check marked as resolved. You'll get more responses.JFYI.
