How to Fix unknown drivers in windows 7 ultimate?

    Hello team,

I have installed windows 7 ultimate in HP dv5-1126em. My previous version was vista home which came with inbuilt.win7 already installed all necessary drivers at the time of install the OS and I manually installed VGA only. But when I checked my device manager there is showing 5 unknown drivers. There are 3 system base driver and 2 unknown. I tried many ways like driver max, Everest....etc for search drivers but I can't do that. Can anyone tell me, how can it fix? Please give me some instruction.
If you need screen shoot. I will provide you later.

    Thank you,

Try if you haven't already go to Hp and install the latest chipset drivers. This should take care of the base system drivers. The unkknown device is most likely the smart card reader. Install that driver as well. From HP. Fabe

Go to device manager>base systemXX>click on properties>details tab>drop down meu>hardware id. copy and paste the list. Somone on here should be able to read the code and tell you what the device is then hopefully find the driver for it.I also noticed under monitor it says generic PnP you need to find the manufaturers site and see if they have a driver for it. This will help with resolutions and refresh rates. If they have a driver for it. Were getting their. It's 2:00 am I've got to get some sleep so I'll check back. (edit the above post looks promising)Fabe

Hi Link2, my post above has a link to windows 7 drivers for your laptop and like I stated Im sure one of those base devices is the hp hardrive protection and most likely card reader. I just installed 7 on my hp laptop and had that last driver to look for which was a base system device before I realized that I didnt install the driver for hp protectsmart hard drive protection and that was my solution good luck!
