    Really Need Help With Finding Updated Drivers for Win 7 Clean Install

    How do you guys find drivers for stuff like asmedia that i cant find if my life depended on it. I have an asrock z97 extreme 6 and looking for the driver for "Asmedia ASM1042AE" and "Asmedia ASM1061" The problem is the drivers on asrock site are all old and yet other sites like station driver or guru 3d even tweaktown forum and more manage to find new version for EVERYTHING (Can they be trusted. What im doing wrong? and if i do an clean install of win 7 can i just use intel drivers and not enable asmedia in the bios if i'm only connected through intel connections? Or should i install both regardless.

    Thanks

    PS Is win 10 out long enough for fixes or should I wait and go with win 7

    A quick search on Google brought the ASRock page with all the drivers for your motherboard from Win 10 down

    ASRock > Z97 Extreme6

    Ditto what shimshom has posted mate and navigate to that Asmedia driver and install it.

    AS for Windows 10 personally I would be very careful how you do that because there are a lot of members here coming back with faults galore after trying 10 and then reverting back to 7 as I said with some horrible messes.

    Personally what I did was to clone my original 7 drive(s) and then swap it out and use the clone to try 10 - in that way you can save yourself a LOT of grief. This way you can also have 7 back in the time it takes you to swap the drives A spinner of the same size drive would be suffice to try it first and hey are not expensive. But the choice is yours although I would not be surprised if you just did it on the original drive that you will be back here if you do not like 10.
    I have tried it on a laptop and a desktop both being the upgrade with my settings carried across at the same time. There is a lot of hype about 10 and I think you would be wise to do some reading up about it especially re the loss of privacy that comes with that operating system - read the EULA.

    ShutUp10 lets you turn off telemetry etc. Has recommended settings or you can dial in your own. See snip -

    red = Windows 10 default
    green = function disabled

    Well that's ok if one trusts that to be secure but it does say in the EULA and I cannot remember the exact wording that is but it goes along the lines Microsoft can at their discretion collect information on your or any data - and I am guessing just about anything you do with your machine if they have due cause to do so. One needs to read through that EULA and see just what is says - something one has not had to do that much before now.

    Now that in my mind I don't know about anyone else alarm bells re installing 10 because again in my mind it is well known that anything can be got at and that Microsoft would have some sort of inbuilt features of that system which will let them do just that whatever lengths one goes to. As the ShutUp10 is an add on software I should also be very cynical and say that Microsoft are already on softwares like that and making sure they have some "fix" for them.

    If you go back to my post re cloning a drive and use that and if you are happy with it go ahead and use 10 until such time you are really happy with it then do it on the original drive.

    I am just saying there are just a large number of members posting back in here because they do not like it and because they are having terrible problems getting 7 back for whatever reason and some are having to try and source new 7 OEM's, the original code for 7 if it was installed by a manufacturer, or that it will not go back even if they have the original code for 7 just to name three problems I have coem across - there are more .

    The choice is yours I am only the messenger
