    Power Xpress Problems

I need help, i cannot switch to my High Performance GPU (HD4650).
Whenever i click the Switch Button (As seen on first screenshot) it does not switch - It tells that i just switched to the power saving one! (As Seen on screenshot 2) So im stuck with Low Power/Performance GPU.

I have the latest ATI drivers, and the drivers from Acer Upgrade dvd.

    Windows 7 has detected HD4650!

My Laptop is an Acer 8530 G.

    It frustrating, help please!

    Regards, Christian.

Yeah, I asked because I looked around a little bit and users were waiting for functionality when 9.3 was out. Wasn't apparent if there ever was a resolution or nor.

It's probably best to contact AMD/ATI and ask them if they have a solution. If they tell you incompatible with Win 7, it's probably is a good clue that they haven't gotten it to work correctly yet under the platform. Or they do not want to officially support it yet.

See what they tell you. Good luck.

This laptop was purchased with a win7 upgrade, Acer.

So it should be supported fully - im going to call Acer on monday.

    Please, stay in touch.

    And thanks for your time.

    1.Reinstall Windows 7
2.Install the Acer / Manufacturer Driver CD.
    3.Update WIndows 7
    4. In Catalyst Center, create a new profile, and enforce it to use the High Performance GPU

Hi Christian - I have a very similar problem - After using the upgrade pack (to the letter) I can no longer switch between adapters at all - all it has done is create an extra display and extended them - i have no idea how to disable the extra display and go back to just switching between gpus when power changes? any ideas?

I had the same with my 8530G. I installed the windows 7 and couldn't get the HD4650 to work, exactly the same as ChristianKlint.

I downloaded newest drivers from amd page for HD4650 (9.9 beta: "9-9_beta_win7_32_dd_CC"), not to HD3200. I used the installer to remove existing driver installation, restarted and installed HD4650 drivers. Now everything works. I haven't tried the 9.10 at all, and wont as this works now.
