Your welcome I don't believe you need to remove the second part to clean it out and not mess with the thermal paste part

That is a better way to get at it from the fan side and remove that part and clean it if it looks even remotely like those
Small very soft brush and compressed air or vacume cleaner
Well TrashZone, I have not done it jet !
I found this brilliant video ( this is exactly my model Inspiron M 501 R .
I watched it 5 times and been writing down all the steps.
Now I will make pictures of each new step, because of coarse, once on the way I cannot look any more.
It is a big job, bigger than I though
Fingers crossed .....................
Yep that might not be worth doing it is not a clean friendly device
That's a lot of dismantling just to clean
My little Gateway M series is the same way to change out the mother board battery I have not done it.
I'd just get some compressed air cans and reverse blow it out instead unless you feel brave enough
I DID IT
Only stupid thing ist - in my concentration - I forgot to take good photo's to put on the forum here !
It was so much dust ................,unbelievable.
I had a friend helping me, who kept the video on her laptop all the time, so we could look and verifier constantly, that was a massive help. Also some times you need 4 hands.
And it was exactly my model :).
So, as the saying goes: Done and dusted !
Well, ThrashZone, I will close this thread now as solved, it now really has nothing to do with drivers anymore.:) for your help and advise in this thread.
Cheers
