Transfer Drivers From D drive(backup) to C drive

can someone help me transfer my drivers in my D drive to my C drive
my D drive is a backup of my old windows installation

I tried moving the windows/system32/drivers and windows/system32/driverstore and windows/inf folders from my D drive to my C drive and restarted my PC but that didn't work

Drivers have to be installed - they cannot just be "moved".

is there a way to install all the drivers from that folder then?
maybe a program that would do this for me?

I really don't know what drivers my computer uses.
or what they are called or where the are located
so I can't just goto the device manager and install them

Acronis Migrate Easy [it's not free] might do the job; what I do not know: if AME can only do specific folders, it implies the whole OS goes or nothing goes. I haven't tried it yet. I know there are several migration programs around, I have not vetted or used any, yet.

I assume from the above that you have Windows 7 installed on your "C" and that it is working correctly. Normally Windows 7 will find the appropriate drivers for your various components automatically apart from possibly the LAN driver. Is your Windows 7 operating normally?

That`s not how it`s done, simply store your drivers on a flash drive or a cd, or even on D itself.

Amost every motherboard sold comes with it`s own driver cd and almost every piece of hardware sold comes with a driver cd.

Windows then finds 90% of the rest itself.

You store the driver installers for future use, as WHS says, once windows has been installed, you then install your needed drivers, you don`t extract them or move them from something like a backup image of windows.

There is no reason at all to attempt what you`re doing.

If D is a backup of C, and something happens to C, you use D to re image C, you don`t pull parts from the backup/image etc.

well as far as I can see
I don't have the Ethernet Controller and the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
but I might be missing/need updating more

well the thing is my System and OS are exactly the same I just reinstalled for cleaning purposes
so I don't see why I can't just use my old drivers

How to backup your drivers (and reinstall them later when needed!) - TechSpot Forums

Click Backup->Scan Other System and browse to the Windows folder on your D: drive to backup the offline drive
