Installing Windows 7 64bit on a Dell M4700 laptop. Help Plz  

Okay so my brother's gf has a dell laptop and is trying to install windows 7 64bit on it. When they run through the setup it gives them the error - “Windows Setup could not configure Windows on this computer’s hardware." How can they resolve this? Thanks in advance.

Why are they installing windows 7 on it ?

What OS original came with the laptop ? It will tell you on the COA

Where did they windows 7 installer come from ?

Go into the bios, set it to default (F5) save (F10) and exit.

Try again.

They were reformatting the laptop.
The laptop comes with Win7.
They were using a OEM win7 disc.
We have tried defaulting the bios, and reinstalling. Same issue comes up everytime.

To resolve this error you can change bios mode as ACPI instead of RAID.

Yes sorry for late reply, it was the raid thing that was the issue, thanks. Issue has been solved.
