I have no idea why it won`t install to a 2.0 slot, I`ve heard that they now sell 3.0 usb sticks, is yours one ?

    The plot thickens

Nah! Mine is USB 2.0. In my post about the bootable USB, I did mention the strange fact that the software said that it took it only 0:00 time to write the thing. What if that indicates that the software had no idea what it had done. :P

P.S. Still downloading and installing updates/programs.

P.P.S. I checked reviews online and read that MSE is the worst anti-virus of all the free legit ones.

I can understand that everyone will have their bias. However, something that gets ranked as the worst one cannot be better than AVG. Let me read up more and see if there have been updates. I've also read the MSE is less resource hungry, which is a BIG plus as long as it at least works. MalwareBytes have been my best buddy since I discovered it years ago.

MSE and MBAM have been good buddies together for me. MBAM catches what MSE misses. It's usually not advised to have 2 anti-malware software but MSE makes little footprint which I do like.

I think the problem with AVG is that its popularity is its own disadvantage. Since malicious attackers know many are using it, attacks are made to circumvent it.

AVG does way too much. It`s absolute garbage.

The thing is, YOU are the best defense against viruses and what not, don`t download garbage and you`ll never have a problem. Use your ISP mail program and you`ll never have a problem.

I`ve been computing since 98 and not once have I ever had a virus or malware or any of that phantom garbage.
