    Vaio VGN-FZ31Z driver issues

I recently upgraded from vista home premium 32-bit to 7 proffesional 64-bit on my 18 month old vaio VGN FZ31Z and have discovered that my touchpad now has scrolling issues, my multimedia control buttons don't work and most importantly to me, my graphics card (nVidia geForce 8600M) no longer works (I get almost slideshow like video playback and windows tells me there is no detectable video memory available).

I gather these are all driver related problems but as sony seem to have said they're not releasing drivers unless your notebook was purchased since june this year and the download available direct from nvidia says it's not compatible with vaio (presumably because sony want to handle it themselves) I don't know how to fix it.

Anyone able to shed any light over this for me?

    Much appreciated

    Hi!
It seems we have a lot in common!
I have the same laptop and the same problems.I have installed Win 7-64 on my machine and not managed yet to get a clean installation with the proper drivers.
    1. Multifunction button not working
    2.Touchpad not working properly
3.Nvidia 8600M GS not working properly, although i found and downloaded the drivers for 64 bit OS from the site of Nvidia and they seemed at the beginning to be installed correctly. The problem is that a get realy often blue screen and the system falls down.
The most possible is that Sony Vaio wont give a f..k about releasing full drivers recovery installation for the idiots like me that gave their money to buy a computer with 4 gb Ram in a really 32 bit f..ed up OS like Vista and want to take full advantage of the capabilities of their machine.
sorry im so angry and dissapointed and I am afraid that the only solution that the experts of Vaio will give me is to return To 32-bit Vista.HELP anyone!
    thnx

I have the same model like you, but I want windows 7 32-bit but I can not install the multimedia keys and touch pad and etc. I will not buy sony any more. No support for windows 7 even the hardware config. is perfect for this os.

Some of these 64 bit drivers should work. I know it's not the same model as yours but this is as close are your going to get.

I'm running x64 with no issues, and found drivers for everything, you just need to look. The S1 and AV buttons don't work, but I don't need them, and to get them working from what I've read, you need to put a few Sony programs back on, event service ect, but that's up to you.
