The chipset driver or one of the other downloads may work your camera.

Aspire 5050 Webcam and Card Reader.

Many have the Bison Webcam, for which it can be difficult to find the correct driver in Windows 7 x64. I found a 64-bit Vista driver and managed to force it to work under Windows 7. I will attach the link below, which I managed to make work after much trial and error. The Smart Card reader driver listed above worked like a charm though, thanks Fref! First of all, be sure to uninstall any previous drivers/software associated with the Acer Orbicam, or this will cause a conflict and will possibly cause your system to repeatedly crash if not done first. Once this is completed, perform a restart, and apply the driver as follows. First extract the files to a folder. Open Device Manager then click the "Imaging Devices" tab. Once the view is expanded, you should see USB 2.0 Camera. Right-click on this and then left-click Update Driver Software. Click Browse my computer for driver software. From here, choose Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. Click on the Have Disk icon. Click Browse. Go to the folder in which you extracted your driver (Acer Orbicam_V6.96.0.15a-WHQL) software. Find the subfolder labeled 7725_Vistax64 and open it. Double-click the BisonC07.inf file that appears. Proceed with the installation of this driver file. After completion, close off Device Manager. Now revisit the folder in which you extracted the driver files for Acer Orbicam_V6.96.0.15a-WHQL. Right-click the setup.exe file. Left-click on properties. Click the Compatibility tab. Check the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for: then in the dropdown menu, select Windows Vista (just Windows Vista, not any of the Service Pack options). Then click on Apply at the bottom-right corner and then click OK . Run the setup.exe file, and then allow it to restart. Once your system has rebooted, you should have an icon in your Start Menu under Acer Crystal Eye Webcam for the software controls for this device. It should also work with any other piece of software you have installed which supports a webcam! :)

Here is the link for the driver:

The two pieces of hardware in question (Webcam and SmartCard Reader) should work after following my and Fref's suggestions, so I hope your questions have been answered. Unfortunately, it seems to be a habit of Acer's to try and phase out old models by not offering driver support for the latest of operating systems even though they are perfectly capable of running said operating systems. This being the case, it sometimes takes some tweaking with Windows Vista drivers to get them to operate under Windows 7, but they can usually be made to work.
