Computer won't start after installing USB 3.0 Drivers

Hi, this is my first post - sorry if I do something wrong :)

After attempting to use the front USB 3.0 port on my computer for admittedly the first time due to getting a new USB 3.0 Portable HDD, I noticed it doesn't actually work.. Only in Windows 7. When booting up the PC, It is detected as a drive and the light on the HDD comes up to show it is receiving power. I've tried installing the USB 3.0 drivers for my mobo, but it doesn't detect, and when I next reboot my PC it refuses to start up, so I have to press F7 and select 'Start with last known good configuration'. I've also tried 'find drivers online' on device manager, where it found drivers, installed them and the same issue involving restarting happened.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When you say it isn't starting up, can you explain what is actually happening? Does it just freeze? Do you get an error message? Does it just restart automatically at some point?
