    HP Scanjet 6200c / 6250c / 6270A can't find any drivers on web

    Hi Folks,

I hope that someone can help me out with this...

I have a HP Scanjet 6250c scanner (the label on the rear actually says 'HP6270A' and on the top the label says 'Scanjet 6200c') and I used to use it under Windows XP. The software didn't like Vista and HP didn't issue an updated driver for Vista - so it has sat on my desk for the last n years, simply taking up space.

I suddenly had the idea to use Windows 7's Program Compatability to install the old XP software - only I can't find the drivers/software disk.

I went to the HP Support website but the only thing it could come up with was an a6270 Desktop or, after a bit more digging, telling me that the hardware was no longer supported by HP.

I'm surprised that that seems to mean that even legacy hardware has the drivers removed from the servers!

Any help with the drivers for this scanner and/or the Precision Scan Pro software greatly appreciated.

    UPDATE:

I have tried VueScan and managed (in over 4hrs of troubleshooting) to produce two colour scans from the scanner - but in order to do so, I have to power off both scanner and PC, power the scanner back on, then the PC and finally launch the VueScan software.

After getting a succesful scan and saving, I can't then scan a second, separate document without powering down both scanner and PC again - so hadly a workable solution.

What annoys me is that because the scanner has produced two succesful scans using the VueScan software, it shows that the scanner is in full-working order but HP (in their infinite wisdom) say that it is no longer supported and worse, they don't even have the legacy drivers available on their website.

The scanner cost a small fortune when bought new - around £350 if memory serves correctly - and it ran under Xp without a problem. When Vista replaced XP, HP no longer supported the scanner.

    Shame on you HP, shame!

Any ideas from other forum members welcome.

Going to uninstall VueScan and try the 32-bit version to see if I have any better luck with that.

    UPDATE 2:

Problem with VueScan now resolved and I have now regained the use of my HP6200c (aka HP6270A) scanner.

Fast email reply from Ed Hamrick sorted the problem (misting on the glass by the calibration target).

All sorted now so topic marked as 'solved'

    Regards
