    Generic USB3.0 PCIe card driver

I purchased through eBay a USB 3.0 PCIe card with a generic host card and VIA Labs, inc VL805 chip. The minl CD with driver software was corrupted, so I had to acquire the driver from VIA's website. The driver software installed and the card is functional. However, I'm only seeing about twice USB 2.0 speeds when transferring data to 3.0 external storage devices. VIA's website says that all their drivers for the VL800 series host controllers require the latest firmware upgrade to work properly. Does this mean that since my Adapter card is not produced by VIA and can't receive the necessary firmware upgrade, the driver cannot reach full functionality ?

Was that straight from the box? I think you ought to consider a return and getting back the purchase price.

Yes, dead right from the box - I tried 4 different computers in trying to read it. The seller didn't respond to my request for another CD.
