Need Old HP Printer driver for Windows 98SE for USB support.
Hi all:
So my mother owns an optometric practice with a very old Dicon field machine (dicon tks 4000) and it uses a floppy to store patient data then it is moved to the a pc with WIN 98SE and displayed with a program called Field View 3.01 then they print that report from the software. Their old printer died and she wanted me to put on another printer which she does have for WIN 98SE. Now here is the problem I'm facing, I uninstalled the old printer which was an HP something via USB (it's long gone now unfortunately) to install the driver for the new printer that is a HP LaserJet P2015dn that's also USB and got this driver on there but I can not add the usb port for printing as after much tearing my hair out trying multiple things (even putting this machine in a VM to diagnose the problem) I came to find out that in 2007 MS pulled all the licensing for the manufactures to have the USB support component in their drivers(this is inside XP and all newer os's by MS) so that driver I linked above is only to fix a broken one or to install on a machine that the USB port assignment was never removed. When I uninstalled the broken printers drivers it took that with it. I now need to find an original driver that came with this printer on the CD back when it was sold that will have this old USB portion of the driver still in it. I have looked all over the internet for this but can only find the newer one that will not have it all in it. They are currently taking pictures of the screen of monitor atm then printing it from their phones which is not convenient and a new field machine is about 20k so that is not worth it for this issue. I was just wondering if any older guru's on here might know or heck even have the cd lying around somewhere I can get the file off of?
I figured it did not hurt to see if anyone has any info that could help me out at this point.
Thanks for your time
Malcolm
