Looks like you have an 845GV chipset with Intel Integrated Graphics...

Going to try and find the driver for you
    Z;

I have a Dell D505 laptop with the 855 chipset. I do not remember where I found it, but I am using a Vista chipset driver package for 852 - 911 chipsets but nothing as old as 845.

A short time ago, I found a suggestion that the onboard video memory could be increased to 8MB in the BIOS on some Dell systems. I looked at the 2400 User manual but could not detirmine if that setting was there. Would be worth a look?

    Cheers!
    Robert
Never hurts to try...and unless your laptop was using a desktop chipset, the chipset for the laptop won't help the desktop I am afraid

    Dell Dimension 2400 Display Fix

I have Dell Dimension 2400 with windows 7. Intel chipset is 845gl like yours.
    1) download the driver from dell (even only choice is xp). Extract it to a folder that you can locate later. The final file is R86399.
    2) right click on desktop and choose screen resolution
    3) choose advanced setting
    4) choose adapter properties
    5) choose the "driver" tab
    6) choose "update driver"
    7) choose browse my computer for driver.
    8) choose the folder the driver is extracted to in step 1.
( windows will restart and your resolution is optimized, note windows aero is not supported with dimension2400 ) So i don't have the preview thumbnail when i roll over the icons on the task bar.

I have installed windows 7 on a dell dimension 2400 and 3000. download the graphics accelerator off of dell. It will say its recommended. Its different files for both but pretty much the same thing. Run the graphics accelerator by right clicking on it and run in compatability mode even tho I didn't have to for the 2400. If you try to run it otherwise it will say that windows 7 is not supported. Sometimes after it will ask if it installed correctly and click use recommended settings if it does as that, it will install then have you restart your comp then when it comes up it will be fixed.

I tried the XP drivers before, but it wasn't letting me change the compatibility options from SP3 to SP2. Then I did compatibility troubleshoot and it switched it to SP2 and it worked.

Thanks for all of the replies and help! All is working well now :)

    Dell Resolution

I had the same problem with my Dimension 2400.

I installed a PCI graphics card that supports Windows 7
    and disabled the onboard adapter.

Now it runs like a charm (with 2 GB Ram)

    im on a dell dimension 2400-P4 2.66ghz - 2gbRAM - 500HDD on Windows 7 ultimate working perfectly.

this is what ive done on 3 pcs both dell.
    1. extract chipset driver and the intel extreme graphics to get this folders: R47822 or so.
    2. run the setup file, 1st time it wont install cuz the os is not supported and the window should close, after that it should pop up a window with 2 options, if not try running setup again so it will apear the window, click on run or Use reccomended settings and this time it will work, dont restart computer yet.
    3. install intel extreme graphics drivers same procedure as step 2. and do not restart computer.
    4. go to start - run - msconfig - BOOT tab - click on Os boot information
    5. restart computer and enjoy.

    hope it solves your problem.

    Hello chelsika,

I am glad you resolved the issues, sounds like a number of the issues you are dealing with are driver related- most issues can be resolved by checking with the device manufacturer's website (not necessarily the computer manufacturer) or with the Windows compatibility center: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...s/default.aspx.
