Hi all, I have the EXACT same problem. After going through this thread, I still can't seem to upgrade to Windows 7. Even when I am directed by the Upgrade Advisor to update to a compatible version (HP mediasmart), it doesn't even direct me to the right product. I went on my own to find the most up to date versions of mediasmart and updated it, but it still gives me the same message.

I can't go through with the upgrade without doing something about the keyboard filter, it seems. Why is that? I don't understand why I can't just ignore that option (of updating it)? I have the most up to date one...

The OP had no problem, perhaps you should start at the 1st post and read through them all. She was concerned that she might have an issue, but after speaking with us here she learned it wasnt an issue. She performed her upgrade and it works! Another satisfied Win7 user!

    Hi,
I get the same notification about the Keyboard Filter, when doing a Vista-> W7 updgrade on my HP Pavilliion dv2-1110eo. Is it safe to go ahead with the installation or should I get some new drivers?

Also I keep getting a notification that I need to uninstall Skype, even though I've already uninstalled it (and restarted twice after that). Any harm there?

    Thanks!

OK, I just had the same problem upgrading from Vista 64 bit to Windows 7 64 bit on my HP dv7 laptop. I ignored the issue and went ahead and upgraded. Following the upgrade the Quick Launch buttons were no longer working (those are the buttons above your keyboard for MediaSmart, mute, volume, reverse, play, pause, forward, and stop). That's actually what the Keyboard Filter incompatibility is complaining about which other posts around the web had mentioned. So, I went to the Windows 7 drivers HP support page for my specific laptop, but they didn't have drivers listed for the Quick Launch buttons.

After desperately searching various forums, I ran across someone that mentioned using Vista drivers. So, I went to the Vista HP support page for my laptop and found the drivers in question under "Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices" labeled "HP Quick Launch Buttons. When I clicked the link it identified that these drivers were for the Various Vista 32 bit and 64 bit versions as well as Windows 7 32 bit. It made no mention of Windows 7 64 bit support. But I tried them anyway and so far they seem to be working. Your mileage may vary.

Hi Guys I found in my installation (Hewlett Packard) the only driver windows didnt have a generic one was the Hewlett packard quick launch buttons which are for the keyboard filter

Driver Management concluded the process to install driver NULL Driver for Device Instance ID {A87C2E0F-9A46-46B8-8EC4-E33355FBE1F7}\KEYBOARDFILTER\5&3E9A9B&0&01 with the following status: 0xe0000203.
