Windows 7: No touchscreen after downgrade from 10

No touchscreen after downgrade from 10

Okay, I bought this HP 15-F387wm refurb from back a couple months ago. This thing originally came from the warehouse with 10.
AMD A8-7410 APU, 2.2 GHz triple core with Radeon R5 graphics integrated
4 GB DDR3 PC-12800 RAM
500 GB (assuming) Hitachi 5400 RPM disk drive
15" TOUCHSCREEN display

10 was nothing but a headache. Updates wouldn't install. Bloatware wouldn't delete. When the Start menu finally quit working (click and nothing would happen), I decided to downgrade to 7 Ultimate x64, which I have on 2 other PCs here.

Took 3 hours and a lot of headaches with the UEFI junk, but it is running 7. Had a bit of trouble finding the drivers for everything, but I did. No device conflicts, no flags in Device Manager, nothing.

Touchscreen DOES NOT WORK. It worked fine with 10. On System Information page, Pen and Touch lists "Single Touch Input Available". I have reset the settings in Control Panel>Pen and Touch several times. I have uninstalled all of the HID Compliant Devices and even the PnP Generic Monitor and let the system reboot. Still no touchscreen. Can't access touchscreen through hardware diagnostics menu in BIOS, it's not listed. Tried everything I could find about trying to get it to work on the HP site and got nothing. And, of course, being an HP, they don't support downgrades.

Typing this on my Dell XP platform. The HP is attempting to go through a hard drive optimize, which I have been running since yesterday... And is currently disconnected from Web.

Hello and welcome maverickh1l no offence but buying a refurb not a good move in my mind because it has been refurb'd for a reason and that could be anything from faulty components, install etc etc

Now it could be that the touch screen driver is only supported in 10 and if the 10 was so bad in operation why didn't you take the machine back - you must have had a warranty which I am guessing they would void now seeing you have got 7 on board.

The other thing that crosses my mind is how important is the touch screen to you. Personally I find them rather grubby (and unhygienic) and I see no advantages over using the KB and mouse - or is it that the touchpad is not working - have I got that right or not??

Another thing is that edition of Windows was Ultimate really necessary, is it an OEM or retail copy, and and did you get it from a legit source - again no offence intended.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

The Dell laptop I am typing this on is a factory refurb. And is fully upgraded to the max and is 9 years old. Technically, I could put 7 on this but with a MAX of 4GB RAM, DDR2 800MHz, BIOS limited, it's not a viable option.

I wanted the F387wm but I wasn't willing to pay full price for it since the last laptop I bought was another HP, a dv-6809wm, that was bought in store and I promptly sold 3 weeks after I bought it for almost the full purchase price. Another AMD, Turion TL-62. With Vista. Wasn't going there again. Figured I'd try it and if it didn't work, I wouldn't be out as much money.

The F387 was fully functional as far as hardware goes. 10 wasn't. As I said, after the first 4 days, updates stopped updating. They would download fine but wouldn't install. Bloatware (WildTangent games, Xbox BS I didn't need, stupid NBA and other sports BS) refused to delete. And then I made some changes in the System Configuration dialog to disable the bloatware and delete some things and the Start menu stopped fully opening (it would flash and that was it). It was either do a system recovery or downgrade to an OS that I know for a fact works (it's on 2 fully functional desktops, one of which is my custom gaming rig).

The touchscreen really isn't that big a deal. But, being that I prefer to have everything working 100%, I'd like to have the option to use it if I want. Especially since the touch PAD seems to be acting weird in that sometimes it will work fine and sometimes it's jerky and sometimes it doesn't do anything. But the touch SCREEN does absolutely nothing at all. I've tried the disable and enable via Windows, tried to enable via hardware, and can't get anything at all. The part I don't understand is how Windows acknowledges that it's present but basically ignores it? I'd try with a Pen but I don't have one.
