    Wireless Bluetooth issues on Win 7 Pro 64 bit Lenovo laptop


    What a mess. I'm having issues with my wireless bluetooth (machine does have the capability), and I've tried dozens of fixes found both here and in the Microsoft and Lenovo sites. Nothing is working.

    The problem started back in June with the Windows update issue. My pc is now finally searching, and finding, updates. What isn't fixed is the wireless bluetooth capability.

    Prior to June, I was able to connect wireless devices (headsets, etc.) to the PC. They have since disappeared from the printers and devices window, and no matter what I do, I can't get them back.

    Here's what I've tried:
    Updating drivers from Lenovo site
    Updating software from Windows
    Starting/restarting the services
    sfc (no integrity violations found)

    Errors Received:
    bluetooth peripheral device doesn't have a driver (cannot update/search)
    device driver software was not successfully installed


    In services, the following are marked as automatic but will not start:
    bluetooth device monitor
    bluetooth media service
    bluetooth OBEX service
    When I try to start them, I get this error:
    Windows could not start the <name> service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

    Bluetooth Settings are set to allow discovery, however, under COM ports, when I try to remove COM 8 and COM9 (with names associated), it says "The specified service does not exist."

    Under network connections, bluetooth network connection shows, but has a red x.

    I don't see the generic Windows bluetooth drivers anywhere, and I can't find where to grab them.

    I've tried multiple resolutions in the windows help forums, but nothing has worked.

    I can live without the headset, but other devices are going to be harder.

    Is there any way to fix this without a restore? What am I missing? Does this sound like a driver conflict of some sort?

    Hello and welcome NoMoreLenovos mate I can sympathise with you because I use Blu tooth mice wherever I can.

    So have you tried going to Notification Area Icons - bottom right taskbar and I keep the Blu tooth on the taskbar and if you click on it it will open a window that asks to Show Blu tooth devices click on that and it will open and show you what is available. When you click on any device it will ask you to do several things including troubleshoot - try that and let us know what is there and what happens.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Right clicking on the icon takes forever to load the menu. "Show Bluetooth Devices" brings me to the Devices and Printers screen. Nothing shows there.

    Ok mate now is the machine a laptop or a desktop as I can only locate a laptop for the machine mentioned in your specs.

    Now what I was actually looking for was the site for the machine you are having trouble with and link the driver for Blu tooth which is the obvious place to start. So I need to know the exact model of machine you have there with the Blu tooth problem.

    For the time being re updates I would make your settings as in my pic and just don't update anything just now until this problem is sorted.

    Thanks Derek I just didn't get that out here as often I don't as you think it would be easy.

    Anyway NoMoreLenovos try reinstalling this Intel Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter Software for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) SP1 - ThinkPad - Lenovo Support (US)

    Sorry I am late to reply. We had a work crisis.

    I've installed all of the latest Lenovo drivers. They even sent someone out to replace the card, but the issue is not fixed.

    Lenovo now wants to replace the motherboard, but I strongly feel this is a driver issue, especially since it worked before, I have no issues with wireless, and bluetooth dongle devices work.

    I think the system is missing the generic windows drivers. I know the Intel ones should replace them, but somehow I think it is a problem between windows and the drivers used. I know that Lenovo does some strange things. I've searched for them, but can't seem to locate them at the Windows site. (They aren't making it easy to narrow down drivers you want!)

    Now two things come to mind one is that if they send you a new mobo then it will not have the embedded Microsoft key on it as the old board has for the OS - have they let you know how they are going to deal with that issue??

    The device that needs drivers is not made by Microsoft so any "generic" drivers need not work if there are such things (I stand to be corrected) hence our refs to the manufacturers.
