AMD driver update caused video playback problems, Rollback ineffective

Hello, Yesterday I updated the driver for my AMD Radeon HD6310 equipped Gateway laptop . After it was installed WM player and VLC player stopped working so I rolled back the driver but it did not fix the issue. I noticed that after the "driver" installation, some programs were added and some windows processes were altered.

I went to System Restore and picked a restore point before the driver update. However after initializing, the system crashed and I got a BSOD. I tried several other restore points but they all crashed and led to the BSOD.

Everything was working fine until I downloaded that new AMD driver. Any help would be appreciated.

System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350, AMD Radeon HD 6310

    Here is the system log:

    Hi and welcome to SF.

What you need to do is clean installation of the drivers. Here what you should do,
    1. Uninstall any installed drivers you have now.
    2. Run DriverSweeper (you can download this from its website).
    3. Driver Sweeper will remove all the bits of the old driver.
    4. Now install the updated driver.
    5. Most important part, keep us updated. :)

    Thanks for the help.

I did what you recommended but it did not fix the problems.

You see, even though AMD stated that it was just a simple "driver update", it actually installed other software as well.

It installed 4 programs (that I can see) Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86) 11.0.50727, Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) 11.0.50727, AMD Quick Stream & AMD Catalyst Install Manager.

I was told to not uninstall the Microsoft Visual C++ programs because it might lead to more problems.

Where did you get the new drivers from?
