Reinstalled Win7x64Ultimate because I needed to reconfigure partitions

...on a hard drive, and my win7 partition happened to be on that one out of 3 internals.

It was from a save point I made in october 2014, I've done most of the things I needed to do, I installed drivers from the CD for brand new things like my bluetooth dongle and sound card and downloaded the driver for my Radeon HD 7870 but as for the rest...I'm not doing Windows Update right now. All I know is that my 2 ethernet adapters, my onboard sound adapter...if I use the updates provided by Windows, the updates don't work, I had Driver-Genius 15 but my license is expired and I emailed them about it and they gave me a discount like for 22.20 CAD for Driver Genius 16...that's the best driver finder to me, since version 11 I trust it, it never finds stuff that doesn't make sense like others I tried like say I/O Driver Booster or miss stuff like Driver Magician, all products I paid a license for at one or another, it's crazy though how Driver Magician was perfect for my uncle's computer, but not my desktop, its database doesn't see everything. I know there is some sort of Windows driver for AMD cpu's, not sure this applies anymore or it's already there in my october 2014 backup.

It looks like my-config doesn't exist anymore, which is sad, or it changed names? What do you guys use to keep your less obvious drivers up to date? Oh yeah, I got to install the RAID driver for my motherboard, I got my motherboard's cd but the motherboard itself was released in 2012, 2 years before my CPU...there's always updates to everything on the motherboard. If my-config changed names, which I think they did, is it as good, I think it's drivers-something now, anyway, I'll cut it short here, is it worth the 22 bucks to get Driver Genius 16 or my-config's successor will do? I won't do Windows Updates before I got all my drivers in order. Then I'll have to ask you what updates not to install so that win7 doesn't turn into win10 under-the-hood, which they started doing back in july 2015 I think...my win7 partition was a mess too so it didn't bother me too much to re-install, it's mostly the reinstalling of grub so I can have Linux Mint back, Windows wipes the MBR, so I had to boot with supergrub disk, start LM17 that way, do boot-repair and then I'd get the typical black and white menu that win2k back then did not destroy your possibility to boot into Linux.

Ramblings aside...you got my point, what to do with the drivers, I'd try right now but I'm in LM 17.3 and I can't leave it for now, especially not to do boring stuff like that, I'll do it tonight to get myself sleepy

Hello fruitkiller mate you sort of got me lost there somewhere but at least if you want the drivers for the board they are here Access Denied do the drivers first before we move on.
As a tip the CD that comes with the board is almost always out of date when you get it and the best thing is to go to the manufacturers site and get the latest drivers as above. The BIOS I would not touch for the time being.

Now as an afterthought I would get rid of all that driver software clutter because most of those aftermarket softwares are in my mind 99% total rubbish I only know of one driver program like that and I only use it as a last resort.

The problem your gonna hit --

W7 needs to be 1st in the boot order, otherwise it will not update

Its the grub loader configuration thats upsetting updates
read this thread its LONG but it explains it
Service Pack 1 failing to configure around ~9-11%

As for W10 you can forget about that, ALL updates in regard to it have been pulled by MS .
