I need to download video codecs from a safe source

Hi, I need to download video codecs for mp4, flv video files, etc etc. I can find several sites from Google, but they all look very iffy to my suspicious mind. Some are clearly advertising sites.

Please can you point me to a safe site ???

Thanks as always. KK

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1

Here: Codec Packs

See color coded information under "Type and download" heading.

The question is - what is your media player? VLC or PotPlayer should install all codecs needed anyway. ZoomPlayer Free also installs codecs and has an "Install Center" that allows you to install or update codecs.

I have all three of the above media players plus a couple of others. Any of them can be installed as non default players by nor association any file extensions when running setup.

Which video codecs do I need to install?
I have just re-installed Windows XP, but now cannot watch any videos because of missing codecs. Anyone knows what are the ones necessary? Any recommended codec pack, or is it better to download and install each one separately? TIA

Video Codecs
I've noticed that some video files I play don't have sound when playing through Windows Media Player, and some do. Even though they appear to be the exact same file, .avi, with all the same settings. Just wondering if anyone had a similar issue to this, and if they had found a fix or the proper...
