If you have the win7 installation disk, just throw it in and install. It may happen that it does not find all the drivers for your hardware if that is really old. Then you may have to scout for them or try with Vista drivers - if available.
I have seen several people that successfully installed win7 on really old system. So there is a good chance it will work.
Already tried, it does not find any of the drivers, it wont even install, asks you to point to a location where the drivers are held.

Its a Packard Bell Imedia desktop, xp drivers available, only PC I have had trouble with.
You didn't say what drivers it is looking for.
