Installed but now have new problem - when going through setup I let it make a new copy of windows7 and it said it would put the old one in a folder called windows.old . now upon startup it hangs for 30 seconds whilst it waits to be told which windows 7 to start with. I do not know where it has put folder windows.old and if i delete it will it still be in the registry and still cause the problem.
    Thanks

Keep tapping the F8 key on startup until you get into the BIOS,.

Look for something like Fast Boot or information screen

Enable fast boot and disable information screen.

Go into bios>( I have to press delete to get into mine)set to boot from CD/DVD do a clean install. If you reformat your drive and do a clean install you should not have any windows.old folder nothing but a fresh new OS. Clean Install Windows 7 (edit) and by the way IMO the company you purchased it from is lame. They admit your problem is from software "they installed" so they should have to pay to have it returned, fixed and reshipped. I know this rant won't help you but it pisses me off when OEM's treat their customers like this. You paid a premium for a great laptop and shouldn't have to be going through this. Fabe

    My options are

    Quick boot (enabled)
    Full screen logo (enabled)
Addon rom display mode (force bios)
    bootup num-lock (on)
wait for F1 if error (enabled)
    hit del message display (enabled)
