    Need correct wireless driver

My wife's Toshiba Satellite P755-S5381 had a bad virus so I used DBAN to wipe the drive and used a Windows7 disk I have to reinstall it. I got all the drivers I could find for it from Toshiba and installed them but the one for the wireless adapter didn't work. Going through the process of trying to update the driver from the ones downloaded, I tried every one I could find for Atheros, Intel , and even the ones listed under the Intel Corporation names and none have worked. Thinking I had a different onboard card, I tried everything I could think of to find out the make and model of the card installed and came up empty handed. The closest I came was Toshiba's website which listed Intel Wireless Display under drivers but the link wouldn't work in two different browsers. A search using that term came up with links to drivers that didn't work either so can someone either help me find the exact card installed or direct me to a known set of wireless drivers that will work on her Satellite? Pretty please? See, I'm desperate enough to beg

Have you run windows update, sometimes it`ll actually work.

And does Toshiba have a driver update utility ?

More than likely he has not updated due to the lack of internet connection.

    SSSSSSSSSSHHHH,
    open device manager,
go to problem device or anything marked ! or small down arrow.
right click >> properties >> details >> Hardware ID's (using arrow)
    post pci/ven details.

I went back to the Device Manager and the only information showing was for the incorrect driver so I uninstalled that and the adapter was no longer listed in the tree (default) view. I changed views to "resources by type" and found two entries listed for Network Connection, neither of which had any information on them because there is no driver installed. Next idea?

Let us all sit back at the end of this post and slap our foreheads while saying "DUH" in our derpiest voice, shall we? After my last post I had what is known in my family as a BFO, or brilliant flash of the obvious. It occurred to me that I could simply plug in an ethernet cable and access the Internet that way. I could then download the Toshiba driver update utility and let it do the work for me and wouldn't you know, it worked like a charm! I felt stupid for a minute or two as I'm sure all of you who tried to help me and didn't think of it either will too. Thank you all for trying anyway and I'm pleased to announce the problem is fixed.

Now if I could only figure out how to mark this thread closed on my phone app... Screw it, I'll do it in my PC, lol.
