Are DriverUpdate and SlimDriver safe

    Are DriverUpdate and SlimDriver safe


    I keep on getting pop ups from DriverUpdate, SlimDriver and others to update my drivers.

    Are they safe?

    Some of them claim to be Microsoft Partners.

    They may or may not be safe but if your system is running OK do not use them "If it Ain't broke, don't fix it!" There is an uninstall tag on Slimdrivers website. You do not need these driver update programs with Winows 7 OS!

    I think you will find that you have probably unwittingly downloaded and installed the programs. Go to Control Panel and click on Programs and look for the driver update programs. Highlight and uninstall.

I have been getting killed by some virus i have removed twice now. As with some virus' it deletes my restore points in sys restore. So what i want to do is create a new restore point save a safe copy of it somewhere else like on a different drive so that if this happens again i can drop the file...

I tried using this software as a tool for detecting any outdated drivers in this computer. It can download the drivers just fine, but after looking at the directX diagnostic tool > display, there you'll see a driver that has a date of 1/1/2000 which is way outdated if the driver really is of that...
