Bluetooth Audio stopped working in Windows 7

Hi, I have a Samsung Series 9, i7 ultrabook with Windows 7. About a week ago I tried to install an external USB wifi stick, and since then (at least I think it is so) I can't use any bluetooth device to listen to audio with the PC. The devices still pair, but when I go to "devices and printers", right click the device and select "services" and then "listen to music" - the click does nothing. It used to put the device into music mode.

Whatever I do, the entry "Bluetooth Audio" under "Sound, video and game controllers" remains exclamation marked:
"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"

When I try to click on that item and do a driver update online, it says "Windows could not find driver software for your device".
Could it be that Microsoft simply dropped the "bluetooth audio" driver for this specific PC due to its age?

I tried:
1) Removing the bluetooth device and re-pairing
2) Restoring windows system state to an earlier version
3) Uninstalling and re-installing the samsung wifi and bluetooth drivers...
4) Uninstalling the "bluetooth audio" driver and then tried to use a custom bluetooth INF file from a few downloadable versions I found online (Windows 7 "bluetooth audio" packages)
5) Trying to rig the driver to "Let me pick from a list" > Microsoft > Standard Serial over bluetooth link"

Many thanks for any help..
