Codec problem with MOV videos - black video, sound ok.

ok, I have anumber of MOV format videos I want to view but most, not all, have black video . I assumed this was old Codec compression drivers so updated them .. no joy, still black video.

My desktop is 5 years old but i keep it uptodate with Win7 updates and i've tried Media player and Firefox to play these videos but no success. Funny, if i view these videos on my 3 year old laptop, they run ok - any viewer. i assume my old desktop is missing something. My desktop is my multimedia center.

Any help? Do i need special Codec drivers ?
