    About Drivers Over Time

As your OS and/or hardware ages, for how long do assume to benefit from new driver releases?

I suppose this might only apply to non-Win 10 users.

If you were running Win 7 (which I am), will I necessarily not benefit from new hardware driver
    releases?

In my opinion, you may not ever need an update on a hardware driver. If the one you have is working correctly, you should keep it, unless you have a compelling reason to upgrade, for example, if the one you are using contains a security risk, and a newer version of the driver has been fixed. But this is extremely rare.

The problem with updating a hardware driver is that sometimes the new one doesn't work as well as the old one. Consequently, I never update my hardware drivers unless I hear about some compelling issue with the one I am currently using.
