Unsigned Driver Error... how do i fix it?

I'm using a PC running Windows 7 Professional x64. I tried to install the dongle & software for a Kensington Expert Wireless Trackball and got a "Unsigned Driver Error" message from Windows. Is there a workaround for this? (Kensington tells me it's a Windows issue) I'm not very computer savvy (ie I avoid going in the resgistry etc) so if anyone has a fix please relay it in the simplest terms. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. MS only by default allow drivers it has tested and know it's safe and they have issued a certificate for. So ideally you need a certified driver if there isn't one you can force it to load but you run the risk it will make the system unstable. Have you tried to find the right driver?

There is no driver with a signature from them. But the driver and the company is legit....

I found several tutorials that recommend running cmd.exe as Administrator and typing the following:

bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON

when I hit "Enter" after typing this at the command prompt it get this message:

C:Windows\system32>bcdedit /set nointegritychecks ON
The boot configuration data store could not be opened. the system could not find the file specified."

Any suggestions from here???

"bcedit /set nointegritychecks ON" is NOT necessary to use, obrienimages. the first two commands are good enough under Windows 7.

Using an unsigned driver in Win 7 x64. Can I sign the driver myself?
I have a program that has a driver for Windows 7 x64. For various reasons this driver is unsigned. I know the manufacturer and it's safe. I know that I can put computers into test mode to load the unsigned driver but I'm concerned that mode allows any other unsigned driver to load. Is there a...

Unsigned driver installs and works on W7 64bit OS, why?
I've been running around trying to get our drivers certified because I'm told all over the internet that they won't work on W7 64 bit OS because they are not signed/certified. I just watched a guy install them on his W7 PRO 64 bit machine and the only problem he had was the conventional "this...
