    Reformat and install driver problems

Just reinstalled windows 7 on my laptop and am now not able to get the graphics driver to install. I says the computer does not meet the minimum requirements whatever they are. The driver I am installing is the one from the HP support site for this laptop. Don't get it. Any help would be appreciated.

Try the following in the order listed, till you find something that works:
    1. Double check that you are downloading the correct driver.
    2. Try an older version of the driver.
    3. Try the Vista driver.
    4. Try the Windows 8 driver.

Thanks for the reply mrjim. This hp laptop had a major problem with the switchable graphics that came out on the computer. HP had to do some work on the driver to make it work properly way back then and this fixed driver is what will not install. There is no vista or windows 8 driver or functioning previous version. The individual drivers will not load for the on board intel graphics or the AMD graphigs either. The only driver that will work to my knowledge is this driver and it did previously work with this laptop before I reloaded the os.

I would call HP support on this one.

First question: Why, after getting specific drivers installed for that Laptop, did you decide to re-install windows?
Drivers for laptops have been a problem for as long as there have been Laptops. Drivers can be very specific and proprietary, and can change several times during the manufacture of one model of laptop.

That can happen with Desktops too, but it doesn't seem to be quite so prevalent. At least with a desktop PC, if for instance the LAN port on the motherboard isn't working, you can just plug in a PCI card to do the job. Likewise video or sound. I've done all of the above.
But with a laptop, you're pretty much stuck with what came built into the laptop.

    Good Luck!

    Post here your laptop model

If HP did not provide drivers for Windows 7 for your specific device, then forget about it.

HP did indeed design graphics drivers for this specific computer when it was new as a fix to the switchable graphics setup that they initially hit the market with. Those are the drivers that I can not get to load. These drivers worked fine prior to my computer problems which necessitated the reinstall of the OS. There is something causing this driver to not load and I am not savvy enough to figure it out myself. There is probably nothing wrong with the switchable graphics driver but something else that is causing this error and failure to load.
