Win 7 64B OS not recoginizing new drivers for ZR2740w monitor

Connected monitor with DVi cable and installed sp56514 from HP. After about 30 sec, repeatedly (after a number of install attempts) experiencing a warning message that the installer may not have completed successfully and to check settings. What settings is this message referring to?? The OS is not recognizing the monitor whatsoever. It was working when being used as a display screen at the point of sale. Thanks for any suggestions.

Is the screen working at all? I assume it is because you're getting a warning message. Does the monitor have any special features that are not operating? As for the settings, that is a generic Windows message and may not apply to you.

I don't bother installing the monitor drivers for my machine. I let Windows handle it. In fact, both of my monitors are listed in Device Manager as "Generic PnP Monitors" and they work fine. In my case, trying to install the drivers produces an error much like you're experiencing.

Try going to Device Manager and unistalling the monitor drivers. Let Windows Update install the drivers for the monitor and you should be good to go. I wouldn't worry about the drivers too much.

Thanks Mellon. Further investigation revealed that the AMD Radeon 6450 graphics card apparently can't do better than 1024x720, and the new digital display is 1920x______ , so I am thinking this is the problem.

Hmmm. I use a 6450 in my desktop at work, and I run two monitors at 1920 x 1080 each. Not sure where you found the info for the 6450, but I found these specs directly from AMD's website:

    AMD Radeonā„¢ HD 6450 Graphics

    Check the specs tab.
