    Need HP Scanjet3970 driver for Dell Opti 780 w/ Win7 Home64bit

Driver for Scanjet 3980 using Win7 Home 64bit is no longer available via HP.
I've tried a couple independent driver suppliers but they load my system with PUPs and want to charge $ to actually (maybe) supply a driver.
I am looking in the wrong place(s).
    Solutions?
    Suggestions?
    thanx.

I don't want to sound like a wise guy but maybe its time to give it up and go for something that is compatible. The "old reliable" may still work but at some point it becomes obsolete.

    Try the Vista 64-bit driver.

I did exactly that and got the message that it was not available any longer.
Thanks for suggesting it. I think a new/more recent scanner is in my future,

You can usually get a printer-scanner-copier at Walmart.com for $30 to $35. You just missed a great deal - I got the Canon PIXMA MX490 printer-scanner-copier AND fax, with automatic document feeder for $35! I bought one a month ago. It's a really nice machine. And it scans in Linux Mint! You have to go to Canon Asia to get the Linux scanning software, but it works.
