Getting Intel R Network Adapter Not Present? on a Dell (Windows 7)

Looks like my driver got messed up, when I try to update I get this: Cannot install drivers - no Intel R Adaptors are present. I have a dell so a lot of the links I have seen are other computers.

Give me the Dell model number, e.g. OptiPlex 960 and I can see what is on the Dell downloads.

FWIW, if a device can't be installed it may be disabled in the BIOS (Setup as Dell calls it) or if the Motherboard Chipset drivers were not installed, many devices will not be recognized and drivers won't install. On a Dell the correct install sequence is (1) Install Windows (2) Install Motherboard Chipset drivers (3) Install device drivers.

More info than just that the driver won't install would be helpful. e.g. what did you do before the problem.
