Driver troubleshooting question

Went to Devices and Printers and noted a yellow triangle with an exclamation character inside. When I ran the troubleshoot it apparently was unable to fix the several drivers. Here is what was reported (see attachment). Wondering what these drivers are and their function?Would appreciate any input or advice

Frank

Go to Device Manager. Look for these devices in the right panel of the display. For each one, right-click and choose Properties. Dig around in the properties till you find a long text string which looks something like the following:

PCI\VEN_1217&DEV_7130&SUBSYS_012F1025&REV_01\4&6B16D5B&.............

In the above example, the VEN (vendor) number is 1217, and the DEV (device) number is 7130. You can search on those two numbers, to try to find the correct drivers for these devices.

In the past, you could go to www.pcidatabase.com, an excellent site for finding the correct drivers if you knew the VEN and DEV numbers. But that site went dark about a year ago.

Here is some info about that site going dark, as well as what people are doing now to find the correct drivers for their devices:

https://community.spiceworks.com/top...e-alternatives

Disclaimer: I haven't dug through the Spiceworks site, so I don't know what you'll find there. But a brief read through it looks promising.

I have learned that Microsoft ISATAP Adapter, Microsoft ISATAP Adapter2, and Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter are all network adapters and each shows a device status as ..."This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

These had an installation date of 2006. I use Comcast as my Cable TV internet phone service. I use a Netgear router to connect another desktop pc and wifi to connect a laptop. Not sure what purpose these 3 network adapters might have but there is no indication that they are preventing any network services?

Any thoughts?

In a case like this, where there doesn't seem to be any way to fix it, do a Windows Update. Look at the updates that it finds -- the "optional" updates. See if there are any which pertain to these devices. If there are, install only those updates -- uncheck all others. Once they are all installed, reboot. See if that fixed it.

This method has never failed me when the motherboard needs an Ethernet driver, but I just can't find which one it needs. I'll hook up a temporary network adapter, get on the internet, and do a Windows update. I install only the update which is for the Ethernet device, reboot, and I'm back in business.

Something else you could try: You could uninstall them in Device Manager, then tell Windows to scan for new hardware devices. Hopefully Windows will reinstall them, thereby fixing the problem. But I always get a little nervous when uninstalling something that I don't have a driver to reinstall it with. That said, it's probably ok to uninstall these particular devices, because they are Microsoft devices, hence, the drivers are available to Windows so that Windows can reinstall the devices.

Another thing to try: Since printing is what is not working, uninstall then reinstall your printer driver.
