Windows 7 want to kill me. I use an old Wlan adapter. Netgear WN111v2. I got the driver, but windows 7 says the driver hasnt a a valid signature. I disabled the check. But it doesn't help.

What can i do? I don't have access to lan. I need to go online. Please help.

    Hi Sir,
Did you visit ''Netgear Official Page'' & installed ''WN111v2 Software Version 3 OR 3.1 ? Both versions support win 7 ! It should have included the required drivers.
    https://www.netgear.com/support/prod...pports%20Win7)

But first uninstall any related utilities/drivers offered by Netgear or others ! ( Release notes )

    Thanks & Regards. ...

thanks for your answer. Yes, I tried both versions. Same effect.

What is strange, i was able to install the driver once. After the restart Win7 started with that missing signature message. Now I restore win7 to a previous point. Then I hopefully can use the wlan adapter, till I restart the computer.

There was another situation were win7 by itself was able to find the driver from microsoft database (online). I deleted this driver because I always got a virtual network AP. So, not sure what I should do. I just can't disable this signature check. It's set on ignore, but windows doesn't let me install the driver.

OK, I was able to install the driver. That was a PITA.

I followed the constructions here: This is how to get the WN111v2 wifi usb dongle to ... - NETGEAR Communities

There are countless possible solutions on the net. Only 1 worked for me. This guy is the Boss. When I meet him, I spend him some drinks. That's for sure.

    Hi All,
    Cheers,
    Sir(s),
    ."I followed the instructions here : https://community.netgear.com/t5/WiF...in/td-p/991592"
@Traveler99 : Glad to know that you found the answer, Great stuff, It will help me in the future ! I am just interested : did you follow the release notes: word to word ? Why ? because the package is supported for windows 7 and the link says how to make it work in windows 10 ! The package downloaded is extracted to give 'release notes' & 'setup installer' for the driver. Then setup installer has to be used according to release notes.

    RELEASE NOTES:

Windows XP and Windows 2000: Utility version: 3.0.0.3 , Driver version: 3.0.0.168
Windows Vista: Utility version: 3.0.0.3, Driver version: 3.1.0.135
Win 7: Utility version: 3.0.0.3, Driver version: 3.5.0.9

    New Features:

Fixed bug - garbage in one of the encryption fields causing modem to ‘lockup’
    Installation Instructions:

    1. To properly install adapter software, please remove drivers that were previously installed.
To uninstall, go to Start > Programs > NETGEAR WN111v2 adapter > Uninstall NETGEAR WN111v2 adapter .

    2. Unplug the WN111v2 adapter from your computer.

    3. Run the file you just downloaded and follow the on-screen install instructions.

    Thanks Vineet

I won't touch it again. It works fine and Win7 did some system updates. Also after the reboot it still works. I leave it as it is
