Drivers needed for Acer Aspire One AOD257

Hi. This is my first post so please be kind if I goof up.

I have been all over the net and have tried various search strategies but cannot find the drivers I need.

My little netbook is a 32-bit system. I reset it to factory settings and then put Win 7 on but cannot find the following, which are showing up with a yellow exclamation mark and show that I have nothing at all for them so cannot even identify which manufacturer I should use:

    Intel(R) 82567LF Gigabit Network Connection
    Network Controller

I also have a PCI device yellow exclamation mark, and I am told in properties that there are no drivers installed.

When I tried to get online, I was told I had no intel adapters.

I am NOT a computer -savvy person so would appreciate any help/direction/advice anyone cares to provide.

    Thank you.

Hi you should be able to get all drivers from here. https://www.acer.com/ac/en/ID/conten.../3659;-;AOD257
    install the chipset driver first.

EDIT: If you can't get on the net from the acer computer download them from another computer and save them to a flash drive and then put in flash drive in the acer and install the drivers.

Thank you for this information. In very basic (Judy-comprehensible) terms, what does installing the chipset do, please?

The chipset is usually made up of two chips: the northbridge, and the southbridge. The northbridge is the main chip which connects to the CPU and high-speed expansion slots. The southbridge is a support chip which provides things like USB ports, network connections, and disk drive controllers.

Thank you so much. You kept it simple and I 'got' it. Now I understand why reinstalling it might make things work better. Does reinstalling it mean that I shall have to reinstall my o/s?

    Thanks again :)

Will do. Can't report back for a few days but will do so once I try this. Your help is very much appreciated.

I installed the chipset but still have the same problems. However, I have learned something new from you, so thank you.

    Here is the info:

I get the message, “The drivers for this device are not installed, “ for:

    1)Intel(r)82567LF gigabit network connector.
    2) Network controller.
    3) PCI device.

When I troubleshoot the internet connection, I get this message:

The “local area connection” adapter is experiencing problems.

    Any ideas?

I did. It worked. Wow, thank you. Now I just have to figure out why I cannot get onto the public wifi at work, but that is another story.

IF ANYONE HAS PROBLEMS GETTING THIS MODEL BACK UP AND RUNNING, FOLLOWS THIS GENTLEMAN'S INSTRUCTIONS.

You made my day by helping me out so much. I also learned so much by goofing up, and that is always a good thing.

I hope someone buys you a beer (wine, cupcake, ice cream cone, whatever) this weekend. If I were near you, I would buy you a 24 or a bottle of something luscious.
