Win7 install on new disk on Dell Optiplex760 wants Driver location
GE to all. I have an OptiPlex 760 with 8Gb memory and 3.3 GHz processor. About 2 weeks ago the hard disk crashed and has now been replaced. I tried to use a previously saved copy of the Microsoft Windows 7 restore DVD.
While attempting to use this DVD to reinstall Windows 7 on the new drive I of course could not use any of the options presented on the restore disk so I opened a console and dropped back to the root directory and ran setup.exe. After running for a few moments a window came up asking for the location of the drivers. I have looked in ALL of the directories on the DVD and found NO drivers that the Windows 7 disk that windows recognized. I have tried to find out if there was a second disk to a normal installation kit but everyone I ask say they don't have one.
So the natural thought was to go to the Dell sight where I downloaded the drivers.... Great right! Not so much.... most of the drivers were in the form of exe files and of course the windows disk will not recognize them. SO.. is this something that windows is screwing up on? Is there really another Disk? What? How do I fix this and get my operating system back on the new drive?
All help appreciated
Thanks
