Slipstreaming drivers on a separate boot partition

I've installed Windows 10 onto my USB drive using Win2USB.

The only problem is, that the bios of my system, doesn't support booting from the USB 3.0 drives, since they use some awkward NEC host controller.
So for now it only runs from my USB 2.0 port.


Now in linux I could just use an el-cheapo 1G usb stick which carries the boot-partition (grub), kernel and drivers (either in kernel or initramfs).
I would boot from this stick and that would mount and the OS disk which is in my USB 3.0 port.


Can I do something similar with Windows?
e.g. create a 100MB partition on a separate USB flash stick, format it as NTFS and set it to active.
Then install the windows mbr and bootloader.


But then comes the part where the bootloader needs to 'find' my USB 3.0 drive, which is not detected by the bios.


So I'd figure there must be a way to slipstream the USB 3.0 host controller driver on this small boot partition.


Is this possible?
