Win 7 not recognizing all flash drives

I have a SanDisk Cruzer 32GB flash drive I use with no problems, have been for 2 years now. However, I bought a generic blue flash drive that doesn't work on my PC, but it works on my wife's and her setup is almost identical to mine. It says it can't find the driver for it & I've tried numerous methods to find it with no luck. I then went out & bought 4 different branded ones & they say the same thing, even tried another SanDisk Cruzer 32GB and it won't work either. So my real problem seems to be that I can't install NEW flash drives. Any ideas? I haven't done any registry or other changes. I can see the new drives in the Device Manager and it has the "yellow triangle" indicating a problem. I can also see it under Devices & Printers, but it shows up under "Unspecified" instead of "Devices". I've tried a number of recommended methods to get the driver to work like deleting it in the Device Manager & reinstalling, but nothing helps including the troubleshoot option in Windows 7. Any ideas?

Does it show up in Device Manager with a yellow triangle next to it under Disk drives?
If so, right-click it and select Uninstall.
On the top menu select Action and then select Scan for hardware changes.

    Does that help!

I tried that earlier and it didn't work.
