Fresh Install of SSD and getting no intel network connections found

I have a sony vaio laptop SVS151A11L where I just replaced the HDD with a SDD and did a clean windows 7 install. I don't have access to the internet from that computer so I tried to updated drivers and get this error message "no intel network connections found on this computer".

How do I get around this?

You need to find the net driver for that machine. Download it on a machine that already has net connection, copy it to usb stick.

Thanks! that got everything working but the wired internet (wireless is working).

I realized that I used a Windows 7 Pro install disk, but the key on the laptop is for a Windows 7 Home Premium and it won't let me activate with that key. I don't have the disk for the laptop, how do I get Home Premium activated?

You can do a downgrade install. Same process as upgrade install, but going the other way.

1. First, you need to change these registry entries:
Open up regedit (search for it in the start menu)
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
Change the EditionID to HomePremium
Change the ProductName to Windows 7 HomePremium

Alternatively, just merge this reg file
Homepremium.zip

2. Insert installation media and select Install Now and Upgrade.

If you want to create universal installation media that allows installing any edition:

1. Create an iso file from your dvd

2. Delete ei.cfg from the iso file sources folder

3. Burn your new iso to dvd/extract to bootable usb stick using rufus, or similar.

You can do all that with gburner - the trial version is fully functional for 30 days

Download gBurner
