Intel Link 5100 AGN & Netgear A6210 USB 3.0 Adapters stopped working

I updated the Intel Link 5100 AGN adapter using the Intel auto-update tool and now both the Intel Link 5100 AGN & Netgear A6210 USB 3.0 Adapters stopped working. Running troubleshooter did not work and I have no idea what to do.

Thanks for anyone who can help.

Joe

Hi Joe,

running the 5100agn on this comp, no problem, its actually a very good piece of kit.
latest available driver dated 2012 v14 3 2 1.

Suggest you either use the rollback facility within device manager, or use a restore point.

It does seem a little odd that BOTH have dropped out, if the above fails it could be that its lost the connection to your hub/modem or router.

notes
the OS might be confused as your running 2 wifi adapters you must select only 1 as the primary
using the 5g bandwidth on mine i get a 300mb connection speed, max for my ISP
Intel proSet often included within the download, is NOT neccessary remove it

As you suggested below, I disconnected the Netgear A6210 USB 3.0 Adapter before doing anything else.

I downloaded, installed and ran Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Intel® WiFi Link 5100 and updated the driver to Version 14.3.2.1 dated 01/22/12.

Before updating the driver to Version 14.3.2.1, the driver was dated 2009 and the Roll Back Driver button was grayed out.

The System Restore NEVER worked on this laptop.

According to Wireless Network Connection, the adapter is Enabled and according to Wireless Network Connection Properties, this device is working properly at location PCI bus 2, device 0, function

Bottom line is the Intel PROset adapter is still not working.

I do not think I know how to do that.

I was hoping that Torchwood would provide that information since it was his suggestion. I assumed that you could just uninstall it from Programs and Features in Control Panel. Looking on the web, many people have had a problem doing that. I found one blog that has a removal tool. I don't know if it works-

Remove Intel PROSet/Wireless Software - Expert Guide to help you uninstall Intel PROSet/Wireless Software completely

I would definitely create a system restore point before running it.

Hi,

I assumed that it would be in programs and features,
That removal page is just quoting standard blurb about registry entries, 99% of programs leave behind registry entries, scareware is a good title for this.

I'd opt to use Revo uninstaller.

Silly question Joe, when you first installed the netgear kit, how did you stop the intel wifi,
turned off, (PC button) - dissable it under device manager or another way???

could you run this little program, DO NOT select the bottom 3, post the results.
Download MiniToolBox

Im assuming there an X on the wifi icon - not an orange blob.
