Sorry for confusion ...

Depending on the motherboard you may have a single driver pack which is a single install, in this situation any updates are usually, also, just a single installer. With other motherboards you will see drivers for various functions that I have a habit of classing as chipset drivers - Probably Motherboard drivers is a better description

i just install the chipset drivers from asus website.
H81M-K Driver & Tools | Motherboards | ASUS Global
it installs something called intel manegement engine, which is a program for remote use of my pc apparently
i dont really need that.
i checked the drivers on my cd, same thing

Yes.

It depends what is meant by "chipset drivers". The package from the mobo site might include drivers for usb or management engine stuff.

The recent one intel chipset-10.1.18228.8176 doesn't even seem to contain teedriver. It looks like they are all nulls.

Code:
; ** Filename: NULL_HECISystem.inf **
; ** Abstract: Assigns the null driver to devices **
; ** for yellow-bang removal and **
; ** brands Intel(R) devices **

You should let the Intel management Engine on your motherboard because it is made to monitor the functions of the motherboard, NOT to Remote you computer. Do not confuse.

sorry, but im already a million times more confused than i was when i made this thread.
also, i just tried to put in my driver cd with my motherboard drivers again
this time i found both the chipset drivers as well as the intel management engine drivers on my cd
it seems like these two drivers are NOT the same, but if you click on the chipset drivers on asus website, it will download the intel management engine drivers instead.
so it seems like the confusion here is causes by asus.
intel management engine drivers and the chipset drivers are two completely different things
but correct me if im wrong?

Yes they are two differents things..you better install them both for the health of the motherboard, chipset drivers are made for the device manager for all the functions to be well recognized by the Operating System and motherboard together. Nothing to worry about.

Yes, unless a yellow bang appears, no need to install another set of the chipset drivers.
