Are there generic (=manufactur-independent) USB 3.0 drivers for Win7?

There are several tutorials on how to install USB 3.0 drivers on a Windows 7 system.

However they require to download the USB 3.0 drivers of the target manufacturer mainbaord.

Is there no manufacturer/mainboard independent generic USB 3.0 driver?

    Where can I download it?

For selecting the USB driver is the brand of the mainboard/manufacturer important or the manufacturer of the used USB chip on the mainbaord?

How to find out the manufacturer of USB chip on the mainboard?

    Hello pstein

A chip manufacturer has to provide drivers compatible with the operating system for their chipsets. So you have to know the chipset name to select the right driver. Some people do not know what chipsets are on their computer, in which case they are usually advised to visit the computer or motherboard manufacturers site for drivers.
Once standard hardware has been out and made available to the public, then more often than not, Microsoft provide generic drivers with their latest operating system. I have never heard of any other organisation out there that is in the business to provide generic drivers - only Microsoft.
Since USB3 was released after Windows 7 was released, then there are no generic drivers written to support this standard, to go with the operating system. The timing of these releases is the explanation as to why there is no USB3 on Windows 7, ie, it was not a design decision to deliberately exclude the deployment of generic drivers.
Use driverquery /SI to from a command prompt window, to generate list of installed device drivers.
