    Usb3_win7_2021 driver problem

The USB3_WIN7_2021 driver works perfectly on up to 7th gen Kaby Lake boards.
Although this driver installs on later generation boards, it is not as robust.
It does not recognize the Startech 2.5" SATA SSD To USB Adapter.
I have many older ssd's that have been replaced by larger sized ones. I want to use them as temp backups rather than dump them.
Starting with the ASUS H310 8th gen Coffee Lake board, the non-recognition appears with 3 short monotone beeps, when the Startech unit is plugged in, instead of the two short low-high normal beeps. Changing to the USB_5.0.3.42 driver solves the problem; the Startech unit works.
But, the 10th gen Comet Lake H510 board has no such equivalent USB driver (at least not for Win 7), and therefore relies on the USB3_WIN7_2021 driver. So no Startech backups.
Is an upgrade to this ubiquitous driver available?

The Realtek RTL9200 USB3 to M.2 SATA adapter also faces this problem. It works perfectly with a Coffee Lake board and it's USB 5.0.3.42 driver, but will not work on a Comet Lake using the USB3_WIN7_2021 driver.
So I can't utilize the leftover small size M.2s.
It is interesting how the person who built the USB3_WIN7_2021 driver combined the host and hub .inf files into one, wound up with 6 files instead of 8 after the mod, and installable just about everywhere. Can this be done with a newer driver?

There is a variant that requires the sha2 update in addition to the previous .msu which you have already installed XHCI_UASP_WIN7.zip

    canonkong also made one

    Thank you for your response.
I don't understand some words of it.
The words: "variant", "sha2 update", and ".msu".
I did download the .zip file, extracted it and noted 9(!) files.
I asked the Device Manager to update two of the seven drop down items of the Universal Serial Bus controllers entry: 1) USB Root Hub (xHCI), and 2) USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller.
The current driver for both is Riolin Limited 6.2.9200.22453.
After pointing to the newly extracted .inf file in both Hub and Host items, the Device Manager said "successful", but the driver stayed the same and the Realtek adapter did not work.

the one in my sig does not require sha2

the other one does require sha2 according to the person who did the mods.

Microsoft to use SHA-2 exclusively starting May 9, 2021 - Microsoft Community Hub

they are similar but not exactly the same. Hence variant.

need to install the sha2 update if they havent already. Because the definition updates require it.

KB4474419 has already been installed, probably curtesy of the latest Simplix.
But XHCI_UASP_WIN7 is no help. The Device Manager installs it over the existing USB3_WIN7_2021 and claims "success".
But the StarTech and Realtek adapters still do not work.
As the StarTech tech claims, " a newer USB driver is needed for the newer boards".

    Thank you.
I will work on this next week.
One Grad last week, one Grad this week, and one Grad in June.
The grandkids are growing up, sadly for me, happily for them.

The first link to Canonkong appears to be related to bios mods for turbo operation.
I have trouble with the Win-Raid forum. I know that I cannot adequately discuss the generation of a USB driver myself.

The YouTube video affirms that which I already have: in my instance, an I7-10700 on an H510. Intel's Win 10 lan driver does not travel well, but a small pci lan card takes care of that. The Win 10 audio driver fails as well, with the same solution.
The narrator skips over the USB.
