No Sound after Windows 7 install! HP Pavillion DV 1000

The volume icon on the taskbar reads "No Audio Output Device is Installed". No sound whatsoever not even out of the headphone jack. HP does not make a driver update. They told me my computer is too slow to run Windows 7. Funny, because I'm running 7 as I type this! Works great, other than this issue.

If there isn't a driver, I can of course get a USB or Expresscard soundcard, right? Thanks!

In fact, your "X-Fi Expresscard 34" sound card is the Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook sound card.
    The drivers are here :
Creative Worldwide Support > Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook

They should be compatible with Win7 since it was last updated on June 29 2009.
Try it out! If you need more help, post here

    Fixed it!

Still no audio from the Conexant built-in soundcard or built-in speakers on my HP DV1000. BUT...

Creative's X-fi card for Expresscard 34/54 is compatible!!! If you've got the HP multimedia remote, the slot that stores it is the Expresscard slot as well. Creative's site says Vista or XP but it works absolutely flawlessly on 7. Came with a pair of headphones too, so for now I am all set. Thank you very much!

To anyone who doesn't want to spend the money on this fix, I'd recommend it if not for the software bundle alone (sound controls, DVD player, etc)
