I have been through the steps many times and thank you for reply.

I am trying to install Nikonscan for a coolscan V ED....with a usb interace. But I have just installed NikonScan on XP Pro and apparently there's a hatdware problem with the scanner which I bought used.

By the way, I grew up in NewportNews.

Well I'm a transplant New Yorker. BTW I was just up in Maryland (near Baltimore) the last three weeks as I have family there.

Now, for your issue... If you're having issues with the scanner under XP, than it may be hosed. But... have you tried a different cable? I've checked on the scanner and see there's no firmware update so that's not an issue. And I know the Nikon V is one of the scanners that works with this fix as many here have reported, plus I added the tweak for it in the file some time ago.

Anyway if the scanner is bad, there may be nothing you can do with it since Nikon has discontinued servicing these scanners.

    Sorry

As I said it did work even on XP with all Nikon support. But clearly the Ebay seller is responsible and I've written to him.
    Thank you,

Yeah, thus this fix since they also haven't provided drivers since Vista (32-bit) days. Anyway you can always try giving Nikon a call to confirm, but I'm 99.999 percent sure they've discontinued service on these. The only ones that "might" still be serviceable are the 5000 & 9000 series, but even those don't have driver support.

And good luck with e-bay support. Bit of advice... be weary of electronics off of e-bay, especially these scanners.

    Anyway good luck.

    Peace

Thanks for keeping this thread open, providing the driver, and dealing with the public! Just as an FYI, I couldn't get my LS-50 to be recognized until I looked at your .inf file and noticed that "LS-50" is missing from the [Models.ntamd64]. I copied and pasted "Nikon LS-50" = USBScanner,USB\Vid_04b0&Pid_4001" from above, and now am a very happy person....guess there aren't many people with that model!

Thanks and glad to see you figured out how to add the scanner as I the file doesn't contain all the older Nikon scanners.

    Anyway happy scanning.

    Peace

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Followed directions to the letter and it worked perfectly with a Nikon Super Coolscan 8000 ED (firewire) on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

I've no idea as there isn't much info to go on...
    • Scanner?
    • OS?
    Thanks.
