I had installed Nikon Scan 3.1.3 when I first tried to connect up the scanner. The presence of that software wouldn't let 4.0.3 be installed. The error I got was vague, but I finally realized the issue and all went smoothly after that.
Hallo,
Ik heb mijn Nikon Coolscan 5000ED weer aan de gang onder Windows 10.
Bedankt voor de tips.
Groet, Jan
Hi,
Sorry, I do not understand Dutch. And this is an English speaking site.
hello, I have carried out all the tips step by step and my Nikon Coolscan ED 5000 scanner works as before. my operating system is Windows 10. Thank you for your help! regards, Jan
Thanks for the tutorial.
I traded a Canon G12 for a Nikon Super Coolscan 4000. The tutorial enabled me to get it and the Nikon film scanner software working with the most recent version of Windows 10.
Thanks for letting me know. I'm happy to hear things worked out for you.
Peace:)
Thank you so much for this great installation guide! It did work however the driver signature enforcement on my Windows 10 v1903 Enterprise system was only to be disabled this way:
° Open a command prompt or Power shell with admin rights
° Run these 2 commands (confirm by pressing 'Enter' after each):
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
° Close all Windows and log out of Windows
° At the login screen, press and hold the Shift key
° While holding it down click the on/off button and click 'Restart'
° Release the Shift key while Windows restarts.
° Now choose 'Troubleshoot' - 'Advanced Options' - 'Startup Settings' - 'Restart'
° At reboot Windows will present a menu. Use the arrow keys to select 'Disable driver signature enforcement' and press Enter
Once that worked and I had the driver installed, I had to put Windows back out of 'testing mode' (See the desktop wallpaper on the down right hand side) with the command:
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING OFF
and restart Windows
All the rest, perfect! Thanks again!
